To all in Arthur's swim club....

You've probably heard me bang on about Swim Smooth, a coaching company that has a great website with lots of tips and resources on how to improve your swimming technique. The website is www.swimsmooth.com and I've downloaded one of the Swim Types (you've got to guess which one!!) - the website for this is www.swimtypes.com - I can forward a copy if you're this type of swimmer.

Once again, many thanks to Arthur for spending the time and effort on his latest group of swimmers who must have looked like a bunch juveniles splashing around in the water on that first evening just 6 weeks ago!

Roll on the swimathon :)

Cheers, Steve

I went to a swim smooth bootcamp a few years back. very useful when starting swimming and a decent chap, very helpful afterwards with answering questions etc.

Another useful and free distraction to keep a bit of motivation over the winter is winterswim

www.winterswim.co.uk/

You have to log a 400m time before mid November and then every couple of weeks there is a timed challenge to complete, starting at 100m and increasing in distance with the final challenge being back at 400m - to compare with your initial 400m time logged. Each challenge is ranked based on the improvement compared with you base 400m time.

There's all sorts of abilities and it has people joining in globally. Bit of Fun, free and an extra bit of motivation to keep getting the pool yards in.

Never mind 50 Park runs, i've just gone through 100 miles of front crawl in 2012. This is pretty amazing to me as learning to swim properly was my New Years resolution.

This would not have been possible without Mr Arthur Wood and the encouragement of my swim buddies, Jenny, Steve, Rob, Sharon, Dave, Rob and Leigh.

I have been committed to 3 x swims per week which has meant less than 700 miles run for the year but I think overall fitness after 7 years of year round running is better.

What does 100 miles swimming = in running terms?

Digger,

In my more diligent triathlon training logging days I used to log the miles done across swim bike run as 4*swim, 1*run and 0.25* bike to give a run equivalent total mileage.
