Since it is the season to get muddy Stainland have once again come out with a nice little course for us.
Great to see over 30 pacers at the first race. Even better to see more at the this race and the rest of the season.
Every pacer counts in some way not just the faster of us. There is a most improved team competition , most improved individual competition besides the normal mens , womens and vets team competitions.
WYWL is for all abilities , great atmosphere , great team ethic.

Venue – Heath Rugby Club, Stainland Road, Halifax, HX4 8LS

Time – 10.00am The clubhouse & toilets will be open from 9am. Feel free to use the perimeter of the two rugby pitches to warm-up. Tea & coffee will be on sale.

WYWL Course – The Stainland XC course is 4.75 miles, and is the same course as used in the 2013/14 WYWL season and for the West Yorkshire Vets league. The course starts and finishes on Clay House Lane in North Dean Woods, a short walk across Stainland Road from the Rugby Club car park entrance.

+++++ Please cross the road with caution especially returning from the finish as there is a tight bend in the road +++++

The course covers all terrains so it’s advisable to wear trail or even fell running shoes, but not spikes. The course is one lap, although the last ¾ mile follows the route out. There are various ‘features’ along this challenging course such as mud, rocks, tree roots, stiles, small bridges and a section of flooded bridleway so use caution. This is not a PB course! As always, it will be well-marshalled in addition to being marked-out with red/white tape. There will be qualified first-aiders along the route and drinking water available at the finish.

The trial with the race tags will continue at Stainland. Dewsbury results were not as smooth as expected and we resorted to team sheets etc as used in previous years.
Not one to give up Dave Hutchins (Stainland) is fine tuning the system so hoping to iron out the kinks.
Sure he will get there and appreciate your patience as we strive to bring in this improvement.
With this in mind please arrive prior to 9.30 so you can collect a tag.
Hope you all have a good New Year and fresh and busting to go on Sunday 4th Jan 9 (Cheers)

WYWL Race - 2 Stainland (Race Tag Details)
Stainland Cross Country Registration

Registration is from 9.00am upstairs in the club house where you will collect your timing band. These are Tyvek and worn on the wrist with the chip facing outwards.

After you have registered, if you see other runners without wristbands please direct them to registration.

When you cross the finish line there will be aerials at waist height. Please hold your tag close to ANY one of these. It takes less than a second to scan but the tag has to be close to be reliable. Please keep moving and stay in order in the finish funnel - if you see anyone stopped in front of you, don't overtake, gently encourage them to move to the end. There will be another set of aerials at the end of the funnel as a backup system. Please hold your chip near to any one of these. Finally there will be pairs of scissors to help remove the bands and a yellow bin for their return. Please don't cut the chip.

The race start is at 10.00 am. Have a good race.
