Hi all
Just had it brought to my attention that the venue for next week's race IS NOT where it was last year.
Here is an extract from the YVAA website.
6th Monthly Grand Prix of 2013
Licence No 2013047 (under UKA rules)
Tuesday 30 July at 7.30p.m., from Barnbow Social Club, Manston Lane, Cross Gates, Leeds, LS15 8AD
Promoted by St Theresa’s AC
NOTE REGISTRATION CLOSES 15 MINUTES BEFORE START OF RACE
This is a course of approx. 5½ miles over footpaths and tracks through fields, woods and a farmyard to the east of Cross Gates. It is mainly off-road, except for a very brief section of tarmac approaching the farm entrance; there is one stream crossing, and a short sharp climb, but is otherwise undulating. Suitable for road shoes (if dry weather) or trail shoes but not spikes. Usual £4,00 entry on the day. Don’t forget your number from previous races if you have completed any of this year’s runs or you will be charged an extra pound for the issuing of a new number!
Venue: Registration and race headquarters are at Barnbow Social Club, Manston Lane, Cross Gates, Leeds, LS15 8AD. The start of the race is in a large field on the opposite side of the road to the social club. Please note there is a strict “no muddy shoes” rule in the building. (Please note: This is a different venue to our 2012 YVAA race. However, it is the same venue as our 2013 PECO Cross-Country League race, which may help some of you.)
Facilities: Toilets, changing rooms and showers are in the football pavilion in the adjoining sports ground. Please note, however, that there is only one shower room to be shared by men and women, so please bring swimwear if you wish to use this facility.
Directions: Venue is on the eastern outskirts of Leeds. From the Cross Gates island (with “gates” sculpture) on the A6120 (Leeds Ring Road) follow Austhorpe Road / Manston Lane (name changes half way along) eastwards for just over a mile, and Barnbow Social Club is on the right after the former Vickers factory. By bus:- First Leeds 64/64A and Centrebus 63A/63B to the junction of Manston Lane and Sandleas Way, or First Leeds 40 to the junction of Manston Lane and Pendas Way then a half-mile walk.
Parking: The adjoining football ground (second entrance) has a car park and perimeter road that should be adequate for the numbers expected. However, car sharing would be helpful to reduce congestion. Please do not park in the social club’s car park (first entrance) so as to keep this clear for their regular members.
