Here is an update with some important information for Sunday.

Please note this race is NOT marshaled in the same way as a traditional race hence importance of reccies.

Presentations will be held after the race at 6pm approx, at The Podger pub opposite the sports centre on Ninelands Lane with food available from 4:30pm.

Leg 3 handover at Scotchman Lane - this is a hotspot in terms of complaints from local residents with complaints ranging from climbing over property boundaries to runners urinating in people's gardens. PLEASE COULD ALL RUNNERS ATTENDING THE CHANGEOVER POINT PLEASE MAKE SURE LOCAL RESIDENTS HAVE ABSOLUTELY NO CAUSE TO COMPLAIN. (The future of his race can depend on things like this).

Leg 6 handover at Thorner Lane - again this historically has been a hotspot with local residents complaining about people parking at the changeover point which is private land. This situation has been alleviated by a local farmer providing one of his fields as a car park. Please ensure the car park is used and don't park anywhere else in the general handover area. Parking info and a map will be provided on the LCW website. (Kippax Harriers)

Car Parking
Start /Finish - Garforth Sports and Leisure Centre. Ample parking available.

Leg 1 to Leg 2 handover - Adequate parking is available in the surrounding streets of the playing fields where the handover takes place. Please do not park on the main road (A642).

Leg 2 to Leg 3 handover -Some parking on Scotchman Lane - please do not cause congestion on Scotchman La. Also see previous note about complaints from local residents.

Leg 3 to Leg 4 handover - Side streets off Woodhall Rd - Do not park on A647 (police will prosecute)

Leg 4 to Leg 5 handover - Large car park at Golden Acre Park but bear in mind you will be competing with other users of park so leave plenty of time. There is a less popular car park at the top end of the park. Those who did the Golden Acre relays will probably be familiar with this.

Leg 5 to Leg 6 handover - Car Park provided by local farmer field is about 100 meters from changover point. Ample room for parking Please ensure this is the only place you park on this leg.

Cut off times.

Cut off times apply for any team not completing their leg before the times listed below. Those team pairings still awaiting handover will go on a mass start at the times listed below.

1st changeover L1 to L2 Stanley Playing Fields - Cut off time 10am (2hrs)

2nd changeover L2 to L3 Scotchman Lane - Cut off time 11:45am (3:45 hrs)

3rd changeover L3 to L4 Thornbury playing fields - Cut off time 1:15pm ( 5:15 hrs)

4th changeover L4 to L5 Golden Acre Park - Cut off time 2:30pm (6:30 hrs)

5th changeover L5 to L6 Thorner Lane - Cut off time 3:30pm (7:30 hrs)

Rules
All team members must wear their running numbers (Team A is 18, Team B is 19). I will register the teams and collect the batons before the start of the race.

Club colours must be worn by UKA registered teams.

Race starts at 8am prompt.

Anyone found deviating from the route will be time penalized.

Should any team retire they must inform a marshall.

No runner will be allowed to run more than one leg.

Teams must finish the individual legs with both runners, failure to do so may lead to disqualification. There is a 3 hour time penalty for any leg where only 1 runner finishes.

Please follow country code at all times.

Please show consideration to residents and private property particularly when taking toilet breaks.

Timings.
The following can only be regarded as an indication and there is no guarantee when runners will arrive at the handover. Please err on the cautious side so that you are ready for any handover, ensure you allow sufficient time for the logistics of leaving vehicles at each end of your leg etc.

Last year's arrivals for our teams were as follows: - NB: Last year we had 4 teams and our vets team proved to be the strongest with some of our best runners running for them Our A team results went awry at Leg 5 when one of our runners became ill. Please factor these considerations in and err on the cautious side. I recommend adopting an assumption that our runners will be faster than they actually are to ensure being there in good time. There is nothing worse than running your socks off only to find the pair you are handing over to are either not in place or not ready.

Don't put yourself under that pressure. It won't make for good running.

Vets team.
L1 Start 8:00am Finish 9:14am
L2 Start 9:14am Finish 10:37am
L3 Start 10:37am Finish 11:42am
L4 Start 11:42am Finish 1:15pm
L5 Start 1:15pm Finish 2:31pm
L6 Start 2:31pm Finish 3:42pm

B team.
L1 Start 8:00am Finish 9:38am
L2 Start 9:38am Finish 11:14am
L3 Start 11:14am Finish 12:40pm
L4 Start 12:40pm Finish 2:17pm
L5 Start 2:17pm Finish 3:41pm (Missed cut off)
L6 Start 3:30pm Finish 4:57pm

A team.
L1 Start 8:00am Finish 9:15am
L2 Start 9:15am Finish 10:36am
L3 Start 10:36am Finish 11:59am
L4 Start 11:59am Finish 1:41pm
L5 Start 1:41pm Finish No result - 1 of our runners became ill and we picked up a 3 hour default for this leg.
L6 Start 3:30pm Finish 4:49pm

Ladies team
L1 Start 8:00am Finish 9:23am
L2 Start 9:23am Finish 11:31am
L3 Start 11:31am Finish 1:02pm
L4 Start 1:02pm Finish 2:51pm Missed Cut off
L5 Start 2:30pm Finish 4:22pm Missed Cut off
L6 Start 3:30pm Finish 4:54pm

Final words
I hope to give out the rest of the numbers tonight. If anyone has any problem please let me know asap. Please work together and help each other throughout. If one runner feels stronger then he/she can sort the gates etc. Always run together.
I hope you will all enjoy the event and that the weather is kind to us. Any support anywhere along the route I am sure will be greatly appreciated. Stay fit and good running everybody.

Hi all, I've been pressganged into running Leg 3 for Baildon.
Look forward to seeing some of you leg 2,3,4 guys and gals
on Sunday.
You may notice that Leg 3 nettles, thistles, brambles etc are
much reduced. Feel free to thank me. Should lead to some
record times ?!?
Good luck whatever leg you are on - enjoy.
