These events are great - ideal starter for less experienced runners wanting to try trail running; two take place on club nights so just treat it like a training session? Each event is suited for ALL ABILITIES This is a chance for beginners and intermediates to get involved in a sociable, race setting.
Badgerstone Relay - Wed 18th June (Ilkley) Ilkley Harriers
Danefield Relay - 7.15pm Tues 1st July (Otley Chevin) Horsforth Fellandale
Washburn Valley Relay - 7.00pm Fri 18th July (Swinsty/ Fewston Reservoirs) Otley AC
Golden Acre Relay - 7.00pm Wed 23rd July (Golden Acre Park) Abbey Runner
Each relay event comprises a 3x person team and you take it turns to complete a circuit. The routes are marshaled and flagged. The legs are reasonably short (less than 3 miles except for Washburn that has varied routes 4-7miles).
Most events are entry on the night, although Washburn is in advance - the cost per person is no more than a pint of beer or large glass of wine.
I recognise club captains will likely be occupied with other relay events. And previously folk have just done their own thing. To make each race more inclusive and coordinated, I'm happy to take names and put teams together.
