I've heard mystical anecdotes about this race - in good weather it can 'turn' you 'slack' and in bad, well, it doesn't turn out to well...

A tinterweb piece describes it as thus: The route is a hard... many bogs, lots of moor, slippery descents and the infamous bottomless bog before the commando-style stream crossing, holding on to a fence as you edge sideways through the gushing waters. The final climb is tough and wet, while the descent is a good long one you can blast. The big wall at the end provided a challenge.

Sounds hellish. I'm interested. Anyone done this and/ or interested?

Do it.

I did it last year, it was fun. Big-studded fell shoes recommended for some steep grassy downhills. Worth a recce if you can squeeze one in, otherwise some nice surprises on the day. Last year I got the train to Littleborough, then had a quick walk to the venue as a warm up.

I am tempted again this year, but not yet certain I can make it.

Also, the route has changed a bit since that report. I think it used to be a Cat. A.
